Polo is an Iranian horseback mounted team sport. It is one of the world’s oldest known team sports. The concept of the game and its variants date back from the 6th century BC to the 1st century AD. The sport originated from equestrian games played by nomadic Iranian peoples. Although Polo is called the “Sport of Kings”, it is ironically one of the few mixed gender-sports where male and female riders can be on the same team. More interestingly, beyond the human athletes, male and female horses are also used with a roughly 60/40 split between colts and fillies.
For us at Miss Polo International, we believe that the Polo Sport, being a sport associated with Kings and one without gender-lines, makes it a perfect blend of two qualities which are of great interest to us: ROYALTY and GENDER-EQUALITY. That is why we have chosen to use the platform of the Polo Sport to empower Beauty Queens all across the globe, who are given the responsibility to contribute to improving education globally and EMPOWERING the female-gender through several Strategic Women Empowerment Schemes and Programmes especially in some of the world’s toughest places to live in.
